project frustration.

frustrating myself. i have this idea, this project. i don't want to spend a lot of money on it. $50 max.  i originally saw this piece from pier1 that i just loved.  i went with a friend to go look for it, found it, then became very disappointed...it was TINY!!! 

so i quickly tried to come up wiht my own version.  i loved the 'idea' of this piece.  i visioned my dining room wall in my head.  i knew there was a way to get this kind of 'look'.

i finally found this inspiration online...

fell in LOVE with it.  to buy this 'look' would cost me $700. 

(well thats just crazy)

so i knew that i was creative enough that i could do my own rendition..

**side note, i've watched A LOT of HGTV this summer and thought i should draw out my plan, so i did...

i figured i could buy white inexpensive plates in various sizes. paint on details to make it 'mine'. well that has become a challenge.  i either find cheap plates, but not enough sizes, find enough sizes but way too pricy.  ahhh!!!!

i still need to check a few more stores for plates.  but last night i was determined to find a way to accomplish this look.  *bing* -->light bulb goes on in head!! lol.

i remember watching an HGTV show that did something similar..

the designer mentioned the big one was $3. online they called them natural wooden platters.  now the search is on...i'm thinking i can paint them white then do my stenciling on these as well.  

i see so many blogs that just have these neat ideas.  they explain how they are done etc.  i wonder if it is really as effortless as they make it seem.  or do they dwell on an idea for weeks and finally have an ah-ha.  i doubt they do. 

i think i have come up with a neat idea but just don't know how to implement it!!!
